Webster's defines stress as: "to put pressure or strain on." The medical profession claims that "stress" is the number one cause of all office visits. Its effects are related to every ailment imaginable; from heart attacks, to high blood pressure, to anxiety, to even murder and suicide. The idea of avoiding stress altogether is, in the majority of lives, unavoidable. There are methods and actions, however that can help you to, maybe not alleviate all the stress in your life, but instead to help your body and mind deal with its effects in healthy ways.

Stress is the body's reaction to a physical, emotional, social or mental condition imposed on the person. These changes, whether good or bad, produces tension or stress. There is no way to avoid stress completely, injuries, weddings, meetings, childbirth, deadlines, bills to pay, even going to a party is stressful.

Treatment of Stress:

Ginseng: The tincture of the herb helps restore nervous system after a prolonged illness or injury.

Ashwaganda: Tinctures and capsules are used to fight fatigue during prolonged periods of tension.

Catnip: Catnip is used as a tea to relax and soothe the nerves.

Cat's Claw: Tincture or capsules used for soothing the nervous system during illness.

Chamommile: When mixed and drunk in tea, has a calming effect.

Lemon Balm: This is a type of tea or infusion that reduces tension and relieves aches and pains.

Reishi: An herbal powder and extract that restore emotional balance.

Schisandra: Used for headache, insomnia, dizziness & palpitations.

Siberian Ginseng: Reduces effects of stress, increases stamina and concentration.

When making phone calls, as you pick up the phone and dial, take three slow deep breaths.

On the way home from your business or your job, listen to enjoyable or relaxing music.

Take a few minutes each day to thank God, in whatever form is consistent with your belief system, for the glorious sunrise.

Take a few minutes at work to think of people who may have harmed you in any way. Fill your hear and your lungs with forgiveness for the person or persons who have harmed you. Wish for them the same success and happiness you wish for yourself.

Vitamin C is also good for stress control. Vitamin C has an antioxidant and it also strengthens the immune system. It resists stress related diseases such as headache, colds and fever.
